SO WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE between the New Era and Schuessler Tissue Salts? Why do companies sell tissue salts by different names? Are they different types of tissue salts? Well, no there aren't. It doesn’t matter what brand they are, they are all ‘Schuessler Salts’ as invented by Wilhelm Heinrich Schüßler and originally manufactured by Dr Reckeweg in Germany.

The original name was and still is the ‘Schuessler Tissue or Cell Salts’ and the family owned business Dr. Reckeweg is still committed to producing effective and well-tolerated homeopathic medicinal products in a responsible way – and has been ever since its birth almost 70 years ago.

Although Dr. Reckeweg preparations are sold in more than 40 countries worldwide, most are made in Bensheim, a small town in Germany’s Hessische Bergstraße region. Over time different companies have marketed the Schuessler Salts ‘under license’. They have tended to use their own branded name and unique packaging but all must conform to the original recipe created by Herr Schüßler. So, in the UK, to begin with we got used to only seeing the name New Era, which were originally manufactured in Hull. It is for that current reason their popularity is so high since historically they were the first launched in the UK market. As time passed other companies came here such as the Australian one Martin Pleasance, and there are others today. But the original ones are and have always been the Dr Reckeweg Schuessler Salts which you see on our site in the orange packaging.

Although the active ingredients are the same there are subtle differences in the ‘other ingredients’ which are added by the different companies that produce them under license. For example the New Era range contain biotin and melt more quickly but otherwise conform to the same process as first invented by Wilhelm Heinrich Schüßler.

Customers really do have their own preferences, whether they prefer to crunch them in their mouth or let them dissolve quickly. Generally speaking there isn’t any variation in taste. Perhaps it’s best to try the different ones and make your own mind up. In practice they work the same way.

The New Era Tissue Salt brand is no longer manufactured in the UK and is currently owned by an Italian company who produce them under license to Dr Reckeweg in Germany. The Schuessler Tissue Salts sold on this website are produced by Dr Reckeweg in Germany directly and, like the New Era Salts, imported into the UK.
